With robust experience at the trial and appellate levels, Jean Zachariasiewicz leverages her background in the public and private sectors to advocate for clients both inside and outside of the courtroom.
Jean represents individuals and institutions in all manner of dispute resolution, managing every phase of litigation from complaint drafting to appeals. She also has experience leading complex investigations involving fact development, statistical analysis, negotiations with government representatives, and the implementation of court-ordered remedies. As a result, Jean is adept at consulting with local and state-level government agencies regarding constitutional accountability and federal investigations.
Prior to joining Gallagher, Jean served as a senior trial attorney for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, D.C., where she led federal investigations of police departments and managed consent decrees. Before joining the DOJ, Jean was in private practice, litigating civil rights cases in state and federal courts across the country.
Following law school, Jean served as a law clerk for the Honorable Myron Thompson of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama (2010-2011) and the Honorable Fortunato Benavides of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals (2011-2012). She also served as the Murnaghan Appellate Advocacy Fellow at the Public Justice Center (2012-2013).
